Not Alone in the Battle

This week was a blessing in a lot of ways.  We went to a Pastor’s Conference, where we heard great, Biblical preaching.  Yes, Pastors. Associates, Missionaries and even, Ministry wives need preaching.

3 Week Busyness

Wow, I haven’t blogged on here for 3 weeks.  Our trip to Nashville with the church J.O.Y. group was great.  Other than my fall when Pastor had to slam on the breaks so as to not be hit by a semi (my fault, I was standing in a moving bus.  Children, do not follow my example haha). The fun, the shows, the meals and the shopping were grand.  But our time getting to know each other and studying God’s Word together wa

Revival – Spiritual Checkup

In a 6 week period starting last week I have 5 doctor appointments, echo cardiogram, a sleep study,  6 rounds of therapy and my IV treatment.  You would think I’m sick or something. (LOL)  But some of these visits are preventative visits.  Some are just to make sure my heart is still okay.  See, 4 years ago on Sunday, September 28, 2014, while singing a special before Pastor was to preach, I was having a heart attack. I just thought it was heart burn so I went down stairs to work with the children.  The longer I waited the more I hurt.  Finally Mrs. June convinced me that I needed to get to the hospital ASAP.  I agreed and left for the ER without disturbing the Pastor’s preaching.

The Rain & The Rock

The Rain and the Rock

We had Gordon that swept in from the south. Now Florence blowing in to the east. On our drive to & from Chicago, it rained both ways. Now I’m setting with my puppy on my lap listening to even more droplets ping on the chimney.

Welcome Change

We have started another month.  September is a month of changes.  We start transitioning from summer to autumn.  The sniffles of fall allergies have started.  We see the sun go to bed earlier each night.  We watch as the local stores transform from Back to School to Christmas.

What A Week!

It has been an interesting week for us.  The roof of the church leaked and we lost our projector. Now the roof is being fixed, and new projector to be installed.  We had the memorial service for one of our sweet young mother’s who passed at 41 from cancer (she left 4 boys behind).  I had my IV treatment, which helps me feel less pain and more energy. We helped with different needs that came up this week: counseling, feeding people, helping with transportation.  As well as our normal typing, studying, yard work, preaching, teaching, etc., etc., etc.

This is our life and we love it a lot.  But days do get long and bodies do grow weary.  Minds get so full of info it’s hard to keep it all straight.

God told us in His word,  “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” (Gal 6:9)  Jesus understood our weariness. Many times He went into the wilderness to pray.  When we get to a point in our lives where it seems we cannot go any further, stop, get alone with God and pray.  When things are great and we feel that we are fine, stop, get alone with God and pray.  Matthew 6:6 – “

Sometime you might not be able to get alone physically to talk to God, but He hears us even when it is a prayer in our heart.  “What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind also; I will sing praise with my spirit, but I will sing with my mind also.” (1 Corinthians 14:15)

I hope your weekend includes time in God’s house worshipping with God’s family.  And remember to take time to talk to God daily.                 ~~~Michele~~~

One Month Away

One month from this past Wednesday will be the church’s fall revival.  Then one month from tomorrow will be our big celebration.  Let me explain.

Mike Stancil was our sending pastor as we started an independent Baptist church in Columbus, Mississippi, back in the early ’90’s.  We not only developed a great friendship with the Stancils but we were witness first hand how God has used his preaching to bring many to Christ and Christians to a greater following our Savior.  Start praying for Bro. Mike as he prepares what God has for Serenity and West Chester/Mason/Cincy. Also, pray that God will start working on your heart.  For our families, churches, cities, country, and world to have Revival, we first must have Revival in our own hearts.  So make sure you plan to be here Wednesday – Friday (7 pm) and then on Sunday to hear from God’s Word through God’s man.

Sunday, September 16, we will be celebrating God’s faithfulness to Serenity’s 33 years of existence. Why are we here as a church? To make a difference!  We need to bring harmony into the lives of believers as we all follow God’s will.  We want to facilitate change in the unbelievers, bringing them to the Savior.  We must be a lighthouse in a dark world, reflecting the love and eternal Light of Jesus near and far.

So, join us at 9:30 am for the singing by “Voices of Hope” Trio. At 10:30, there will be more singing by the Trio and more preaching by Bro. Mike.  A BBQ sandwich lunch will se served right after the service.

Also on the 16th at 1:30 pm, we will move our celebration from remembering the past to looking at the future as we break ground for our new building.  This new auditorium/nursery/offices will allow us to continue to grow and to minister more to our community.

As I watch the excitement the church family has for this upcoming celebration weekend, my heart is overjoyed.  We hope that you will be part of the excitement, fellowship, and progress at the church we all call “Home”.

Psalm 133:1-2a – “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head”

Summer’s 3 R’s

It is a Thursday afternoon as I sit here working at the church.  We returned from our vacation in Utah and Zion National Park.  Spending time with God in His beautiful creation, relaxing and reconnecting with my husband and trying new things and meeting new people is such a great way to enjoy the wonderful life God has given us.

Summer (or whatever season you choose to have time away from your routine) is a great time to benefit from the 3 R’s – not the ones we learned in school but the ones we learn out on the beach, in the woods or around a campfire.

Good SONday Morning

As we are preparing for another Lord’s Day here at Serenity, we are thankful that He uses us to serve Him.. God asks all His children to follow His Will, Word and Way but He will not force you.  Christ wants us to serve Him willingly because we love Him.                      Serving should never feel like a chore as followers of Christ. As it says in Psalm 100:2, “Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before Him with thanks giving.”                                Have a blessed weekend and we will see you Sunday!
Prayer Groups – 9:15
Sunday School – 9:30
