3 Week Busyness

Wow, I haven’t blogged on here for 3 weeks.  Our trip to Nashville with the church J.O.Y. group was great.  Other than my fall when Pastor had to slam on the breaks so as to not be hit by a semi (my fault, I was standing in a moving bus.  Children, do not follow my example haha). The fun, the shows, the meals and the shopping were grand.  But our time getting to know each other and studying God’s Word together was my favorite part.  Also thankful my parents were able to come this year.  They live north of Dallas and I miss them a lot.

The hardest part of this past 3 weeks was watching someone I love go down quickly from a cancer that she only found out was killing her 4 months ago.  To look at my friend up until 10 days before she passed, you might not even realize that she was sick.  But when you held her hand, talked to her quietly and tried to make sure she was eating, then you knew she was not the same strong person that we have know for many years.   I miss her so much now that she is gone on to glory. But I know that we will have so much time in heaven because “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (I Cor 15:55-57) Christ gave us all the victory over death when we accept His gift of salvation. That victory includes eternity in Heaven.  I am ready to go there when it is my time to leave this earth.  I hope that you are ready, too.  Have you accepted Christ as your Savior and Lord?

Now it is October – Missions Month at Serenity.  The last few years we had the Wed to Sunday conference. This year, we have gone back to having a missionary each Sunday through the whole month.  We are excited to get to know each family, their story, their burden, their goals and the hopes for their ministry.  I hope that everyone will be at the church every Sunday during October.  You will be blessed to see how God is working all around the world.  Our verse for this year’s Missions Month is Luke 10:2, “ Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.”  Are you willing to go into the field and harvest for the Lord?  Are you doing your part to send others to work for the Lord abroad? All of us can pray for God to protect, provide and place missionaries around the world.  The biggest blessing you will receive will be when walking on the streets of gold and an African child, an Asian grandma, a Tia (aunt) from South America or a farmer from Europe comes up to you, shakes your hand and thanks you for giving to the Lord.  I am looking forward to meeting many people from around the world that I was able to help bring the gospel to each week as I support God’s Work in God’s Way for God’s Workers.
